Branding in Dubai, Up Close: 4 Projects, the Brief, and What Changed

Summarise this article with AI

Good branding in Dubai starts with a business problem, not a logo. Below are four projects from Tequila, a Business Bay branding agency with 26 years of work behind it. They cover real estate, wealth management, a Dubai lifestyle brand and luxury fashion. For each one we show the brief, the strategic decision that shaped the work, what we designed, and what changed. Together they show how strategy-led branding works across very different markets in the UAE and beyond.

Key Takeaways

  • Every project started with positioning. The visual identity came second.
  • In trust-driven sectors like real estate and wealth, restraint signals more credibility than bold claims.
  • A clear brand archetype gives a young brand a personality it can act on consistently.
  • A luxury brand has to feel the same online as it does in the boutique.
  • The best results come when strategy and design are handled by the same team.

What These Projects Have in Common

The industries differ, but the approach doesn’t. We start with the market, the competitors and the audience before opening a design file. That’s the difference between a brand that looks good and one that does a job for the business. In each project below, the key decision was strategic: what the brand needed to make people feel, and what it needed to avoid.

Yakut Global: Real Estate Branding Built on Trust

The brief

Yakut Global is a real estate consultancy working across the UAE and Istanbul. It builds investment plans around each client’s needs, based on continuous research into market developments. It needed a brand that investors would trust with major financial decisions.

The strategic decision

In real estate, buyers judge credibility before they look at a single unit. So we anchored the identity in three values: trust, value and stability. Anything that felt speculative or salesy was ruled out.

What we designed

The result

Yakut Global now presents itself as what it is: a research-led guide for serious investors, not another sales-driven agency. The client described the process as a brilliant experience with results they were very satisfied with. See the full Yakut Global case study, or our approach to real estate branding in Dubai.

MSM Family Office: Rebranding for Generational Trust

The brief

MSM Family Office is a Geneva-based wealth management firm serving ultra-high-net-worth families across generations. Its identity no longer reflected the discretion and standing its clients expect.

The strategic decision

We realigned the brand around what MSM actually offers: trust, transparency and continuity. The brand needed to feel authoritative without being loud, and personal without being informal. For a family office, the wrong kind of visibility is a risk.

What we designed

  • A refined identity system built for a global, multigenerational audience
  • A consistent visual language across every client touchpoint
  • An identity designed to meet the expectations of the families MSM serves

The result

The rebrand positions MSM as a discreet, trusted partner for global families, built on clarity, consistency and long-term value. It also shows how a Dubai branding agency can work alongside international leadership. See the MSM case study.

Plumsheep: Giving a Dubai Brand a Personality It Could Own

The brief

Plumsheep came to us for a complete branding transformation. It wanted to carve out a distinct identity in a competitive market and bridge the gap between its clients and the creatives it works with. The scope covered brand identity, typography, imagery, brand archetype, and business materials such as business cards and invoices.

The strategic decision

A young brand in a crowded market can’t win by looking polished alone. It needs a personality. After market research, we defined Plumsheep’s brand archetype as the Outlaw: a brand that breaks convention on purpose. That single decision guided every visual and verbal choice that followed.

What we designed

  • A vibrant colour palette that matches the Outlaw personality
  • Typography selection and curated brand imagery
  • Redesigned business cards and invoices that project professionalism
  • A cohesive set of visual assets for consistent use

The result

Plumsheep emerged with a distinct identity that sets it apart and makes it easier to recognise and remember. The clear archetype gave the team a basis for confident decisions that resonate with both clients and creatives. See the Plumsheep case study.

Nour Sabi Bridal Couture: Carrying a Couture Brand Online

The brief

Nour Sabi is a UAE couture house with boutiques in Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Dubai Privé, its most exclusive address. Its website no longer carried the weight of the brand. Collections weren’t shown with the care they deserved, and the new Privé boutique had no online presence.

The strategic decision

For a luxury brand, the website is a brand touchpoint first and a sales tool second. We treated typography, spacing and pacing with the same care as the couture itself, and cut anything unnecessary.

What we designed

  • A custom website with a minimal, editorial luxury aesthetic
  • A collections gallery and designer stories
  • Individual boutique pages for all three UAE locations
  • An appointment booking flow for brides

The result

The site now guides brides through collections, brand philosophy and boutiques across the UAE, with the same refinement as the couture. Co-founder Othman Bahlouli called it “the best experience we ever had in designing a new website.” The project shows how brand elevation extends into digital. See the Nour Sabi case study.

What This Means If You’re Branding in Dubai

Across these four projects, the pattern holds. The market decides what your brand needs to signal, and the design follows. A real estate firm needs stability, a family office needs discretion, a challenger brand needs personality, and a couture house needs refinement. Getting that decision right early saves costly redesigns later.

Over 26 years and 350+ projects, including work for Emaar, Burj Khalifa, VARA and Americana, we’ve earned 22+ awards, including Top Branding Agency Dubai from Clutch in 2024. Frequently Asked Questions

What does a branding project include in Dubai?

A full branding project usually covers market and competitor research, brand positioning, logo and visual identity, brand guidelines, stationery and marketing collateral. For UAE businesses it often includes a bilingual Arabic and English identity, so the brand works across the country’s multicultural market.

How long does a branding project take in the UAE?

A complete brand identity with Tequila typically runs around eight weeks, from strategy and research in the first weeks to final identity, guidelines and collateral. A brand refresh is faster, while a full rebrand with naming and rollout can take longer.

How much does branding cost in Dubai?

Branding costs in Dubai depend on scope: how much research and strategy is involved, the number of deliverables, and whether you need a bilingual identity or brand naming. A startup logo package costs far less than a full brand system. Our branding packages set out the scope of each option clearly.

What is the difference between a rebrand and a brand refresh?

A brand refresh updates selected elements, such as colours, typography or messaging, while keeping the core identity. A rebrand rethinks the brand from strategy through to visual identity. The right choice depends on whether your positioning has changed or just your presentation.

Can a branding agency create a bilingual Arabic and English identity?

Yes. A bilingual identity needs logos, typography and visual systems designed to work in both scripts from the start, not an Arabic version added later. For brand naming, this also means screening the name in both languages and running a preliminary UAE trademark check.

Does Tequila work with clients outside Dubai?

Yes. We’re based in Business Bay, Dubai, and work with clients across the UAE, the GCC and internationally. The MSM Family Office rebrand for a Geneva firm and Yakut Global’s work across the UAE and Istanbul are two examples.
